Support new business use cases ● ACME


Museums, theaters, and event spaces use the ACME platform to sell, price, and redeem tickets, manage facilities, and schedule personnel. ACME wanted to add support for third-party reseller sales into the platform. Resellers often sell vouchers (basically IOUs) to their customers. Venues collect vouchers for admittance and then redeem them later with the issuing resellers. This meant ACME had to develop a B2B redemption service.

I created a systems flow diagram that:

  1. Clearly showed the entire existing ACME platform for the first time, including all currently supported sales flows.

  2. Showed how future use cases such as reseller support fit into and extended the existing platform.

  3. Identified all elements of the platform that needed integration for any given use case. This allowed us to test assumptions with customers and clarify requirements for development.
